About TaterState.com. How it Got It’s Name!

Have you checked out TaterState.com? Have you wondered how I choose the name TaterState? In January 2004 I started making jokes about buying a new domain name for my Boise Real Estate business. Since I live in Idaho and we are Famous For Potatoes, I started jokingly telling people I was going to by the domain name of SpudState.com or TaterState.com and build a Real Estate website. Everytime I said TaterState.com people would laugh! Well, to make a long story short, I bought both of domain names, SpudState and TaterState.com. People still laugh when I say “my website is TaterState.com”, but they don’t forget the name!

My Goal With TaterState.com!

I wanted TaterState.com to be different from a lot of other Boise RealEstate websites. I don’t like to have to give my name, address, phone number, email address, and first born just to get access to information on a website! TaterState.com was built to allow FREE access to Boise MLS Listings for the general public with out the hasle. The theory being “give the people what they’re looking for and they will keep coming back to use the website” and the hope is in the end, they will use me, Tom Zumwalt, as their Real Estate Agent. It seems to be working and I’ve meant a lot of great people along the way! Go Search TaterState.com For Homes!

Searching For Homes On TaterState.com!

TaterState.com has two different kinds of searches. TaterState’s first realestate search is the tried and true basic Boise Home Search. I’m sure you’ve seen this kind of search where you put in a price range, number of bedrooms and bathroom, type of property like single family, and the city or area, and you hit search. On TaterState.com, you can click on Advanced Search and narrow your search even more. Either way you get a list of homes to start sorting through.

TaterState.com has an MLS Map Search for Boise Homes also. A map of the Boise Real Estate area comes up when you open the page. You mouse over the map, zoom in and out, slide the map to a different area, or fill in the information on the left and click search. When you mouse over one of the little house icons on the map on TaterState.com, it pops up information about the home and a picture. You can click on View Details in the pop up to open a window with the Property Details.

To save a search on TaterState.com, just click on the Save this Search button. It will ask for an email address so you can save searches. You can also sign up and get email alerts for your saved searches, just click on the Get Email Alerts button and follow the directions. Try  TaterState.com’s sister site SpudState.com!
